Apartment Inspiration

No words needed, I love all of this inspiration and will be using all of it now that I have the decorating bug again (now that I know I will be staying in my apartment for another year).

Itching to rearrange... this is always dangerous.

Wall Candy

With my upcoming move into a new home, I have been thinking a lot about what my room will look like. I know that mostly it will look similar to my room now, with the same furniture, bedding, and wall hangings; all I will be missing is the slanted walls of my current room.

Speaking of walls, my mom and I have been talking about the possibility of removable wallpaper on at least one of my walls. It seems like the perfect idea for jazzing up an apartment.

So far these two providers are my favorite, but if you know of other places that have removable wall paper I would love to hear about them.

So whether you are living in an apartment or house, these wall coverings are perfect for those just renting or afraid of commitment.
Whether it be all four walls, or just one, add a little something to your room to make it that much more fabulous.

The only question is stripes or polka dots.

New Space

I blogged about this desk about a month ago and luckily my parents got the (very subtle) hint that I was dropping. I have a vanity in my bedroom but it is constantly covered in make up and hair spray and not the most convenient work space. I needed room for my computer and all my inspirational tools (new and old copies of House Beautiful, Glamour, Vogue) and I had the perfect vacant space next to my bed for a desk.

It was supposed to be from Santa but it arrived a little late this year, but we finally got it put up in my room today and I couldn't be more excited to put the newest addition to my room to good use. I plan on many hours spent at that desk blogging, and maybe even a few minutes studying.

First to be put up were the corbels, who's shape and look I love.

Hey Dad, you made the blog!

This definitely isn't the final product, but it looked so bare that we just started throwing things on to get the feel. So far, I am loving the feel.

Until next time.

Personal Space

Effortless Style
I am in desperate need of an inspirational place to write and blog and occasionally do homework and I think this desk is exactly what I need. I have a bare corner in my bedroom and I think that this could easily be recreated in my room, providing me the perfect place to store inspiration and creativity.
The geniuses over at Effortless Style have even figured out a way to construct this desk yourself, and since I have already built a shelf in my bedroom that has yet to fall down (knock on wood), I think this Bob Villa is ready for another construction project.

Until next time.
Corner for creativity.

Dream Land

Kelly, from Fabulous K (one of my favorites), was featured over here at La Dolce Vita, talking about what her dream home would be.
She featured gorgeous pictures that she would like in her own NYC apartment and if this dream home existed I would be over for sleepovers, game nights, and dinner parties all the time.

These are just a few of the lovely rooms she has floating around her head.

My dream house would be in California or Colorado. Some place that I could look out the windows and see either the ocean or the mountains. Every room would feel like home, even to a stranger, and the kitchen would always smell like chocolate chip cookies.
Here are a few of my own ideas of my dream home.

I love that this bedroom isn't exactly a grand master bedroom but perfect for me with a candle, fresh flowers and a stack of books in arms reach and breakfast, coffee, and a laptop on the bed.

A closet full of fun goodies is a necessity. This makes me swoon.

That's the guesthouse in the back. It's my dream house and I can dream as big as I want.

Until next time.
Dreaming of a home office where I blog all day for pay.

Good Morning Beautiful

Most of our sweet, little home is finished, with paintings on the wall and pictures in the frames.
Then there is my room... which is about 85% completed. And by that I mean that one panel of drapes is hung and I nailed a few frames to my wall today. So I guess that makes it about 89% finished.

One major area of concern is my bed, which really is the most important thing within a bedroom and yet mine is still lacking.
But these bedrooms... swoon.

It's probably a good thing my room doesn't look like these or I would never leave.

From these pictures I have come to the conclusion that I need some great art and a bench for the end of my bed. Oh and maybe some natural light which I cannot seem to find in my bedroom.

Until next time.
Is it bedtime yet?

Stripes and Spots

Have I mentioned yet how excited I am to move into my new house?
I'm sure I have. All I think about these days, other than fashion and food, is decorating ideas for my sweet little house, my bedroom in particular.
All inspiration came from a turquoise and red floral painting that my mom and I found that we planned to hang above my bed, then tying in all other colors with pillows, curtains, and of course my favorite red chair. So what a surprise to us when we went to look at my house for measurements when we remembered that EVERY wall in my bedroom is slanted. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Which means that nothing at all will be hanging on my walls, not my floral painting, the giant inspiration/bulletin board, or the framed cards I bought months ago.

Plan B.

We are going to have to paint. There is really no other option. As much as I love the all white, clean and crisp feel of a bedroom, I was so looking forward to this room feeling very homey and that includes color and lots of it.
I see a summer paint project in my near future (well that is if my landlord allows it).

Until next time.
Feeling dotty.
