Things I Love: Lele Sadoughi

I fell in love with Lele Sadoughi's jewelry when flipping through this month's Elle. If you happen to pick up the magazine, first turn to page 128 for some serious man candy. Armie Hammer. Swoon.

But before I came to the good-looking man, I spotted some of the most beautiful jewelry I had ever seen. I was immediately drawn to the mixture of pave crystals and natural stones of Lisa "Lele" Sadoughi's designs. All the jewelry seems to be statement pieces that are completely wearable in an everyday environment. 

It doesn't hurt that Lele got her start designing jewelry for J. Crew. It is clear why I am so smitten by her designs. As much as I love them all, I cannot stop thinking about this bracelet.

It is a new month and that means it is time to refresh our jewelry boxes. It is time to bust out those neons, big, colorful earrings, and other statement pieces. My favorite thing about the Kelly Wearstler website is that I can browse exquisite jewelry, apparel, and interiors all in one place. After an hour of browsing (but no buying!) last night my wish list is quite long. Above are just some of the items I was swooning over.

Weekend Update

This whole week has been pretty crazy with preparation for FIG Finale down in Dallas. This event only happens twice a year and I can't believe I didn't know about it before. Vendors and stores from around the area all come together to put on a huge sale within the Fashion Industry Gallery. I am here working for a great cosmetic company called Cattiva, which I could not be happier to represent. In between selling and promoting Cattiva I have found some spare time to do some shopping, and let me tell you, I am walking away with some steals! An ombre scarf that has been doubling as a blanket for me when I get cold, jeans, a shearling vest, and turquoise earrings- and all at 75% off. I can't resist a great deal! 

Today is the last day of Fig Finale and I wanted to be comfortable but still show off some of my new purchases.

Major swooning moment when I first discovered this line of jewelry by George and Laurel. 

I love the lady-like, yet edgy feel of these pieces and I wish that I had all of these rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets in my jewelry box right now. 

The ear cuff is my absolute favorite and a sneaky way of wearing multiple jewels up my ear without         having to get any more piercings. 

Wishing I was lunching in these jewels. 

Everything Good is Gold

It all started with a simple purchase of gold, metallic spray paint.

Bottle in hand, I had the whole day to do whatever I wanted. 

Before I knew it I was convincing myself that everything in my apartment should be gold.

Luckily I came to my senses right before I started painting the refrigerator. 

I actually purchased my spray paint at Wal-Mart but anywhere you can
find non-toxic, gold (or silver) paint is great!

My first project was to jazz up an inexpensive set of stemless wine glasses from Ross (only $4.99). I don't think they look that inexpensive at all anymore.

I followed the directions from my favorite DIY site and it was a relatively easy process that resulted in new glasses that I cannot wait to use!

A few tips!

*Wear plastic gloves if you want to protect your hands or nails, because mine are now covered in gold paint.

*Always spray outside in a well ventilated area!

*Wait until the paint is completely dry before removing the tape!

*Do not put these glasses in the dishwasher. Only hand wash!

Once I had finished the glasses I just walked around my apartment picking up other things that I could paint. You can't go wrong with gold paint-- it makes everything look better!

I bought this hand at Ross as well and used the gold spray to paint the bottom half and cover up the hideous pattern that was there previously. Now I have a chic, two-toned, gold jewelry holder.

These fun, patterned books are actually old Readers Digest that I bought for a dollar each at The Rink in Bethany. Using painters tape and a plastic bag I covered everything but the bind to create a 

display-worthy literary collection. 

Be glad that I didn't paint the cookies I was making gold too!

All Day Thanksgiving Wardrobe

Thanksgiving at my house is full of traditions, food, and outfit changes.

Every Thanksgiving begins the same for me; on the couch, in my pajamas, and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I have never missed the parade, and I can safety say that I never will.

One of my favorite Thanksgiving morning traditions is drinking orange juice with raspberries out of a wine glass. This morning drink started when I was little and the excitement of drinking from a wine glass was high- 

23 years old and I still get excited.

After the parade, it is officially cooking time and I am summoned to the kitchen to get started on the dressing. Making the dressing has always been a team effort by my dad and me, but I think he finally trusts me enough to give me complete control this year. The pressure!

For all the cooking it is important to be comfortable and that means an oversized sweater, my Pixie pants, and my favorite flats. Don't forget the oven mitt!

After all the food is prepared (which takes about 3 days total), this very anticipated Thanksgiving meal is ready to eat. With all the work and time that has gone in, I think it is important to make this meal a little more formal than an every day dinner, and that shows in my next wardrobe change.

Out of my comfortable outfit and into an (almost) equally comfortable outfit of tights and a dress. The key in this outfit is a loose fitting combo that allows plenty of room for the food baby that will most likely form. Let's be honest, if you don't stuff yourself than you aren't celebrating Thanksgiving in the correct way. 

My last and undocumented outfit change is back in to my comfy outfit for the remainder of the day, which includes pie, football, wine, games, and laughs with my family.

Things I Love

I have been wanting to post about these lovely items for days (even weeks!) but I used my small amount of self control so that I could actually post on a Thursday. 

(It was by no means an excuse not to blog until Thursday...)

I love that today is Thursday, meaning that tomorrow is Friday, and then a long weekend. The thought of three full days of catching up on sleep, meals that don't require a microwave, and outfits that don't involve a cardigan (gotta love working at an elementary school) make this day so much sweeter and full of anticipation.

What I love most about this, other than the quirky designs and personal touches, is that the website shows you exactly what your order would look like before you purchase it. That way you won't be disappointed when it arrives and it supplies me at least an hour of distraction while I try out every combination.

Every piece of her fall 2012 jewelry collection is swoon-worthy. These earrings are just one thing that I am particularly coveting this week.

I had been searching for a good metallic gold nail polish for months and Essie delivered with their newest collection. I added "Good as Gold" and "Nothing Else Metals" to my collection of nail polishes last week, only to have to end up throwing out 7 other nail polishes that had dried up. I'm five short now and can't wait for fall colors to start hitting the shelves. See ya "Cajun Shrimp", bring on "Russian Navy"!

{Bond No. 9}

I have been wanting to blog about this perfume since I was in New York in late June. I was already a huge lover of Bond perfumes and received some samples from their store in NY. Usually I just throw them in the bottom of my purse for them to sit for all eternity, but my sample of Sag Harbor is now my daily perfume. I can only use one spray a day to savor this sweet, summer, Hamptons aroma, until I am absolutely forced to buy the full-sized bottle.

I have been looking, trying on, touching this belt every time I walk into J. Crew.

Then I found one half the price at Ann Taylor Loft, then one for free in my mom's closet.

I still love, love, love this one from J. Crew.

{ASOS}

Chevron rings. 

I am still obsessed. I loved the original rings that ASOS did in sweet, spring colors, but these neutrals and metallics are just asking to be worn all fall and winter. 

Even if they have to stay hidden under mittens sometimes, I still know they are there and they make me feel like an absolute rock star.

I know I have talked about my trip to apparel market many times before, but I had yet to blog about one of my favorite discoveries there. While browsing the showrooms we came across a jewelry designer that we all fell in love with. Between picking out things for the store we were all making personal orders for ourselves, and lusting over the leather fringed bags (the purple fringe for me please!).

Vanessa Mooney jewelry is the perfect mix of bohemian and tribal inspired pieces that are perfect for summer. The colors like hot pink and turquoise mixed with silver, gold, copper, and pewter range in delicate pieces to long, chunky necklaces and studded bracelets and rings.

I had been impatiently waiting for our order to arrive and it did on Monday and I frantically displayed it in the store so everyone could admire it as much as I was. 

Jewelry, purse AND shoes by Vanessa Mooney. Swoon.

The skull bracelet is the one item I could not live without. I love the mix of colors and tough elements like the gold bead and skull heads.

I wouldn't mind having one of each of her pieces, especially the bracelets to achieve the perfect summer arm candy.

Pink and skulls? Just call me a tough girl.

Things I Love

Let's start out with things that I hate.

Taking a 3 day vacation from blogs all together.
It felt like I had lost contact with some of my closest friends, which is kind of sad and maybe a clue that I spend too much time browsing blogs... nah.
Well this morning I finally got to grab some coffee and "catch up with old friends" and I found some lovely things that  I just have to share, because some things in life are too sweet not to be shared.

A sweet and beautiful blogger "friend" of mine got to model for Ariel Gordon jewelry and their 2011 Lookbook. This jewelry is all hand made and a favorite amongst some of my other "friends" like Drew Barrymore, Eva Longoria, and Bryce Dallas Howard. 

Ariel Gordon's pieces are modern and dainty and perfect for day-to-day wearing while also making a statement, which is really my goal in life.

Here are some of my absolute favorites.

Also when spending an undisclosed amount of time catching up on my daily blog reads I came across some great limited edition, recycled clutches from a store on Etsy.

I Am a Greedy Girl featured these great and unique bags from Scout and Catalogue.

I had a hard time deciding but I finally made up my mind and ordered the cream lace clutch. 

To arrive sometime next week, already swooning.

Okay last thing I love, I promise.

But meet Kendi from Kendi Everyday who is super fashionable while not breaking the bank. Most of her outfits feature clothes from Gap, Banana Republic, Payless, and Target. I have full faith that this girl could even make Sooner Fashion Mall seem as fashionable as Milan.

That might be a little exaggeration... but check her out.
