Spring Break

9:00 on Sunday night and I am tucked away in bed, wearing some of my oldest J. Crew pajamas, and eating a Sprinkles cupcake. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I fully believe that I live a perfectly glamourous life. I just finished a weekend filled with laughs, love, too much food, dancing, photo booths, cupcakes, and memories. It's weekends like these that I wish there were just a few more hours tacked on to Saturday and Sunday so I could keep this perfect weekend alive for a little bit longer.

If you are reading this, that means it is Monday morning. You might be at work, at home on the couch, or enjoying a week off from school during Spring Break. This is the first year that I haven't had the liberty of enjoying a nice, week-long break during the spring but that doesn't mean I can't pretend. I have been spending way too much time browsing the Swimsuit category of my favorite online shops, perusing beach vacation spots on Travel + Leisure, and using the two weekends on either side of Spring Break as my mini vacation days. This week I was able to enjoy time in Dallas and employed my favorite motto while there, "I can eat whatever I want, I'm on vacation". This coming weekend I will be taking a three-day trip to Charleston, SC with my family where my motto will be in full force again!

No matter what you are doing this week, enjoy these links to get you through the dreaded Monday and be sure to check back tomorrow for a very exciting post!

Denim Daze

When I was in elementary school, you wouldn't have been able to tear me away from my jean jacket. It was a staple in my Gap Kid's-dominant wardrobe and I wore it until I lost it, or my mom secretly threw it away. I wore it with dresses, skorts (shorts in a skirt was genius and prime for looking sassy yet athletic at recess), and jeans, because one can never be wearing enough denim. Sadly there were years that my favorite jacket was out of style, but I could not be more excited that it is socially and fashionably acceptable again to wear this "goes-with-everything" jacket. I searched all last year for a denim jacket, with no success, and thought that I was fighting a losing battle to find a replacement for my elementary school jacket. And then a few weeks ago I found the perfect jean jacket (similar Sanctuary jacket here)! It was a great shape, great color, and GREAT price (thank you T. J. Maxx).

Now that I have my perfect jacket, I hope to find other alternatives to carry me through Spring and Summer, like a dark wash and maybe even a fun patterned one like the Marc Jacobs below.
Dark - Light - Pattern

So, no matter what jacket you choose for this Spring, I hope it brings back memories of your younger fashion statements.

Searching for skorts.

Febru-Any {+Link Love}

I had to name this post after one of the many Super Bowl commercials that aired last night. The Subway ad that inspired this blogpost title had me giggling and then prompted my family's own attempt to say "Febru-Any" without sounding ridiculous. Even though it is already the 4th of February I wanted to start the month by sharing some of my favorite things- swoon-worthy sweets, new blog crushes, and even a video about Russians and their tall hats.

These heart bowls from West Elm have been all over the blogs in the last couple of weeks- so it is no surprise that when I went to find them on this Monday morning, they would be no longer available. Typical Monday morning move by West Elm. For that reason I am especially loving J. Crew who still has these beautiful earrings in stock. I love the combination of colors and texture that would be sure to liven up any outfit. Speaking of outfits, how badly do I want to be wearing the outfit above? Even if it is going to be warmer today in Oklahoma, I know that I will still be freezing and that sweater and fur scarf look wonderful. Valentine's Day is officially next week and if you haven't yet made dinner reservations then why not cook at home? Making homemade pizzas, like this chicken caesar salad pizza, is not just delicious but fun- especially when you actually make the dough and throw it in the air like you a real dough man.

I couldn't come up with my favorite Super Bowl ad, so I have been re-watching them all here.

Looking Ahead

Suzi Chin for Maggy

Winter has hardly even made an appearance yet and I am already dreaming about this dress for spring and summer. Don't get me wrong, I am still loving being able to wear sweaters, boots, and scarves but this Suzi Chin dress from Nordstrom is promoting all sorts of daydreams of sunny days and cruising around the Caribbean with my best friends in March.

So for today I will enjoy an oversized sweater and hot coffee, but soon it will be this maxi and a mai tai.

Until next time.
Springtime swooning.

California Dreaming

In exactly 7 days I will be boarded on a plane and headed to California. I cannot wait to be back in the small, beach city of 9 million people which is Los Angeles.

Take me there.

I have been planning this trip in my head since the last time I was in the City of Angels, two years ago. My dream to go back has finally come and now the only stress in my life is deciding what to pack in my suitcase.

Top from Anthropologie perfect for our night trip to Pasadena
Beach bag from Shop Bop that will be accompanying me to Hermosa Beach
Bikini from Anthropologie, did I mention Hermosa Beach?
Dress from Shop Bop for weekend nights with friends

Beach cover up... okay one more time, Hermosa beach.
Front tie top for nights spent at The Grove's farmers market, bartering with salesmen.
Cozy sweater for cooler-weather mornings spent watching football games in the park.
(all from Shop Bop)

Embellished dress from Modcloth
Wedges and necklace from Shop Bop
Fedora from J. Crew that I have been waiting patiently to wear, but it just seems so much more appropriate in L.A. rather than Norman.

So today starts the 7 day countdown until I am on the West Coast spending days shopping, lunching at the greatest little place called Aroma, and eating Philly Cheese Steaks on the beach. Does life get more perfect?

Until next time.
California dreaming.
