Sealed with a Kiss

Monday was the first official day of summer and the commencement of the oven in the new house!
We were all craving something sweet and had to compromise on a treat that would satisfy us all.
After pouring over food blogs we came across Hershey Kiss Cookies and let me tell you, they were a success from the beginning (munching on the Kisses) the middle (savoring the yummy peanut buttery dough) and the end result (moist peanut butter+chocolate cookies, which are the two best things in life).

::Ingredients::
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup peanut butter
½ cup margarine
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ¾ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 large bag of Hershey kisses

::Directions::
-I suggest you unwrap your Hershey kisses prior to beginning the cookie making process – only because this can take some time.
-Preheat oven to 375 degrees
-Cream sugars, peanut butter and margarine in a large bowl until smooth.
(I suggest softening the peanut butter in the microwave for 30 seconds and the margarine for 20-30 seconds prior to creaming- this will ensure that they are soft enough to cream with ease)
-Once creamed, add a slightly beaten egg to the mixture as well as milk and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.
-Add dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) and mix until completely incorporated.
-Put about ¼ cup of sugar into a small bowl for rolling – and set aside
-Grab the dough with your hands (clean of course) and roll the entire mixture into small balls.
-Once the dough is in a ball like form – toss/roll each of them in the small bowl of sugar
(This will make a nice sugary sweet coating on the outside of the cookie. Yummm)
-Place the balls an inch or two apart on a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper
(If you don’t have parchment paper it’s fine – as long as you have a good baking sheet)
-Bake cookies for 7 minutes.
-Remove from oven and add Hershey kisses on top of each cookie.
(Be sure to press them a little into the cookie- but not too hard of a press!)
-Place back in oven and bake for another 2-3 minutes
-Once the cookies are removed you must let them cool entirely so the chocolate kisses set back up to their original hard form

The finished product was so delicious and still wonderful a few days later, especially if you throw one in the microwave for 15 seconds to melt the chocolate kiss again.

Until next time.
Kiss on.
