Have a Great Weekend

Image

I have been looking forward to this weekend since 6 a.m. on Monday morning. I have been overly exhausted and this change in the weather and the huge drop in the temperature are not helping my productivity. Despite being tired, I woke myself up early this morning to get things done (like this blogpost) so that I can move straight in to the weekend after the 5 o'clock quitting bell. Enjoy these links and the weekend!

Links I Love Thursday

Just a few lovely links for your Thursday. I don't know about all of you but I feel like I have been stalking blogs, instagram, and twitter more than usual recently for posts and snapshots of New York Fashion Week. What a thrill it would be to be there!

Mid Week Update

I had planned on blogging every day this week until my plans hit a bump in the road. Well actually a truck in the road hit my car, leaving me with a dent, without an automobile, and car-pooling middle-school-style with my mom the last couple of days. So since I have been at home with my parents all week, I also have been without internet, as theirs was down until Tuesday afternoon. Not to worry, because all is well now! I have internet and my fingers are double crossed that my car will be ready tomorrow afternoon.

Here is what has been happening, what is currently happening, things I have learned, and things I love.

things i love
There have been some serious good blog posts already this week. I have been in love with Cupcakes and Cashmere for years and this blog post by Emily is so real and fun (and brave!). Bee is looking stunning again in her girly, French inspired post. And Camille shared exciting news in her post, Read All About It. If I was being completely honest, it would be my dream (20 years down the road) to write a book and just share all the lovely things from life. I think at that time I would have many pages of things that are too sweet not to share.
things i have learned
This week I learned that life is far too short. Every day is a chance to live and love and that should never be forgotten.
things that have been happening
I (finally) got my hair done today. I was feeling so much inspiration to chop off my long locks like Julia recently did. But once I sat in that swivel chair I heard myself saying those familiar words "oh, just a trim". So here I am feeling refreshed with clean ends and shiny color but I can't help thinking "what if?". I usually am pretty fearless when it comes to my hair (which explains dying it brown, red, pink and blue, as well as chopping off ten inches in high school), but I think maybe I will think about cutting my hair for a little longer and do some research on short hair styles before I make the big chop.
things that are currently happening
I am watching the timer slowly count down until some delicious banana bread comes out of the oven. It is a wonderful recipe that my mom has been making for years. I made the banana bread tonight and am hoping it turns out as well! It makes the perfect evening snack and I will go to sleep on Tuesday night, excited to wake up and enjoy it again with my morning coffee.
Live and love. Every day and always.

V-Day Fun and Links

Either your favorite or least favorite holiday is happening this week. Whether you will be spending this Thursday with girlfriends (like I did last year- we watched First Wives Club and ate copious amounts of chocolate) or with your sweetheart, these links from some of my favorite blogs will provide you with fun ideas for this holiday. Regardless of your feelings towards this day, it gives you a great excuse to eat sweets, drink wine, and dress in flirty pink and red.

Happy Hump Day

Wednesday mornings make me happy-- I have made it to the middle of the week and the weekend is now officially in view, and I am very much looking forward to this weekend.

To get you through today and the rest of the week, I am compiled some fun and entirely random links and lovelies.

Let's start with a story--
About a week ago I realized that I had lost something that is quite valuable to me. It is small and shiny and fits on the middle finger of my right hand. I am quite notorious for losing jewelry and I don't want this trend to continue as I grow up. I set out to find my missing ring, looking in all the normal places, car, my carpet, laundry basket to come up empty handed. Then I realized I was forgetting the most obvious place, which was the bottom of all the purses and bags I had carried in the last year. Sure enough, in the deepest crevice of a bag was my tiny ring.
The story and adventure could end there, but I chose to endure this mission and dig through every purse I own.

Nine purses later and the above is what I had recovered.
$2.16 which will by me a cup of coffee this week and therefore a total jackpot
8 writing utensils, including two of my favorite pens
5 lip balms
2 yoga headbands
2 pins (one reading "entertain me, I'm bored"... what on earth)
1 notepad
26 gum wrappers
14 receipts
11 bobby pins (the ultimate!)
1 root beer candy

Love Life Food

I should be working on so many things-- my pile of laundry that is currently working as a foot stool so I can reach my winter shoes in my closet, a lesson plan on multiplying fractions that is going to embarrass me in front of 5th graders tomorrow, and yet... I am stuck on this site, sifting through recipes, tutorials, and food images that make my stomach go weak in the knees.

Morning Glory

Now that coffee has re-entered my life, I have found myself still awake at hours that I couldn't even dream of when tea was my only source of caffeine. The random cleaning sprees at midnight and late-night blog post sessions are back in my life and I can't complain. I do my best cleaning and my best blogging late at night, so the only negative I foresee is when my alarm goes off at 7:45 AM.
Happiest Monday to everyone.
Even though it is the most dreaded day of the week, I am in a surprisingly wonderful mood. Such a good mood that as I am writing this post and a Christmas song came on my shuffle I didn't even change it; it only added to my good mood and I can't resist Michael Buble's voice.
Even though I am so excited for this week, I know that I am going to need numerous distractions to get through the next five days until the weekend fun can begin again.

Lucky for you, I am wide awake and full of lovely oddities to keep you and me distracted all day.

Things I Love

How entertained was I when this little joy popped up on my Twitter newsfeed this morning? (thanks sis and fellow Delia*s lover)
How Refinery 29 came across this 1999 spread from the catalog that launched a thousand fashion disasters, I am not sure, but the jog down memory lane was nice. Getting these catalogs each month (it sometimes seemed like they came everyday) was the highlight of my 6th grade life, second only maybe to getting to show off my Delia*s outfit at the mall on Friday nights. There was a particular black, slightly off the shoulder sweater that I had from Delia*s that I can easily say started my obsession with sweaters. My mom finally "lost it/ruined it in the wash" so that my sister and I would stop wearing it every single day, but if you ask me, that is the sign that it is a great investment.

Pretty much, I love Refinery 29 today, this week, and always. I love anything that will be a distraction from homework, professors, and lazy mornings at work.

Second Breakfast

My best friend and I have started a new Friday morning tradition we are calling Second Breakfast. Waking up for a very early class means we have to wake up even earlier to get "ready", eat breakfast, and chug a cup of coffee.
The only good thing is knowing that when we come home we get to change back into our comfy clothes, make more coffee or hot chocolate, and make "second breakfast" which is always better than the bowl of cereal we had at 7:30.

We were excited to come home and make something yummy like chocolate chip banana bread until we realized none of the roommates had been to the grocery store in a while and we haven't found anyone willing to deliver bags of chocolate chips to our house when we need them.
So we resorted to a boxed kit of Blueberry Streusel muffins and bacon. Still delicious and perfect for second breakfast as we watch The Today Show that we recorded.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday!

Enjoy your weekend and these links of friday fancies I stumbled across on my morning blog crawl.

Until next time.

Mondays

Even in the summer I feel like I get the case of the Mondays. This day has just developed a negative connotation and I cannot seem to shake it. Especially after weekends like the one I just had.
A wonderful combination of girl time, family time, an early high school reunion, more girl time, and new friendships, plus a little bit of wedding cake and a lot of dancing on Saturday night. Why do these weekends have to end and a whole new week start again?

I have recently learned that my blog has become a source of much-needed distraction for some people that unfortunately have to be at a desk all day (whether that be for school or work). That is such a beautiful compliment to me and I want to provide as much distraction as possible today.
